Here are more pictures from my wanderings. As I've said, I take my camera just about everywhere I go. Wintertime is a bit tough because the batteries in my camera die pretty quickly when they get cold.

View to the east about 7 am mid August last year.

This view is looking east over the marsh from about 1/2 way down to the beach. The dirt road I follow down to the beach was built through the marsh sometime back around 1950 or so. You'd NEVER be able to build it these days!

An early morning walk down to the beach.

This was taken at about 7:15 one mid August morning. This is where I stand in hopes of seeing an otter or muskrat.

The tidal creek looking east.

You can see a small portion of the tidal creek or "gut" from here. If you don't know why it's called "the gut" you've never been near it at low tide! This picture was taken the same Augsut morning as the others.

More of the gut looking east.

Another small part of the gut.

Early Start

These guys decided to get an early start to their fishing. I took this around 6:30 the same morning as the others. You're looking west towards the St. Marys' side of the river.

Crabbing

This guy is crabbing using a trotline. For you landlubbers, you take a several hundred foot length of rope and tie chicken necks at intervals along it. You then motor along using a net to scoop up the crabs as they feed on the chicken necks.

Herring Gull

This guy was sitting on the pier when I got down to the beach.

Oyster Tonging

These guys are "tonging" for oysters in a newly established oyster bed. You literally reach down to the bottom using very long tongs to grab oysters.

Beach from pier

I stitched two seperate pictures together to give you a look at the entire beach area I wander in.

Beach at low tide

This looks south towards Sheridan Pt., where staemboats used to dock. I took this one February morning when it was about 30 degrees with a WICKED NW wind of 30mph or so. The wind had helped push the tide out unusually far that day. Perfect day to fins fossils. More on that later....

A misty morning.

Taken just after sunrise one early spring morning after getting homr from work. This is one of the reasons I always carry my camera.

Cold Sunrise

This was taken one cold morning this past winter. The time was just after 7am on one of my days off. I woke up and took this from my open bedroom window.

Cold Sunset

I took this one within a few days of the morning shot.

Frozen River

This was taken one cold winter evening. If you look closely, you can see that the river is frozen over.
